Odyssey Marks 25 Years as TourS Leading Putter with New Tri-Hot Line
CARLSBAD,Calif. – october 30, 2024 – Odyssey, a Callaway brand, is celebrating its 25th consecutive year as the most-used putter on the PGA and LPGA Tours with the launch of its S2S Tri-Hot line, available November 7. The new putters capitalize on the growing trend of zero-torque designs and leverage artificial intelligence to enhance performance.
For a quarter-century, Odyssey has maintained dominance among professional golfers, a testament to its innovation and consistent performance. According to the National Golf Foundation, golf participation continues to rise, fueling demand for high-quality equipment. the company’s sustained success is reflected in 51 professional wins through September 25, 2024, achieved by players including Xander Schauffele, Yuka Saso, Sam Burns, Rose Zhang, and Jeeno Thitikul.
The S2S Tri-Hot line features putters constructed with aluminum, steel, and over 140 grams of tungsten, strategically positioned to lower the center of gravity. More than 80% of the putter’s weight is positioned under the topline, promoting a forward center of gravity and hosel position.Available models include the Rossie, #7, Jailbird, and Jailbird Cruiser, priced at $549.99 and up.
A key innovation is the new dual-layer urethane insert, designed with AI, featuring a soft outer layer and a firm inner layer. This design aims to deliver consistent ball speed and roll across the face of the mallet-led line.
“Callaway, and by extension Odyssey, have led the industry in the use of AI,” said Luke Williams, Callaway Golf senior director, product & brand management. “That has been a differentiator for us. The insert in Tri-Hot is our second generation insert using AI to drive the design and this time it delivers consistent ball speed across the face along with improved forward roll.”
Williams further emphasized the importance of engineering and multi-material construction. “In the case of Tri-Hot, however, the magic formula of this design comes back to engineering and the use and understanding of multi-material construction to achieve the mass properties needed in order to position the cg (center of gravity) and shaft closer to the face.”
Odyssey anticipates its continued success on tour will translate to increased popularity among amateur golfers. “I think (amateur) golfers can trust that if Odyssey putters are good enough for the best players in the world, they will be good enough for them,” Williams stated. “We have the broadest array of shapes, styles, price points, technologies, and looks and feels in the market so we feel like we have something to offer every golfer no matter what they are looking for in a putter.”
