Noah Centineo in Talks to Star Alongside Sydney Sweeney in Live-Action ‘Gundam‘ Film
Noah Centineo is in discussions to join Sydney Sweeney in Legendary Entertainment’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the iconic anime series gundam. The potential casting adds another rising star to the project, which is being penned by Jim Mickle, best known for creating Netflix‘s Sweet Tooth and having written the script for an untitled Gundam feature.
The Gundam franchise, which originated as an anime in 1979, centers on a futuristic war between Earth and space colonies seeking independence, fought using giant robots called mechas. Legendary’s adaptation reportedly envisions a Romeo & Juliet-esque romance between Sweeney’s character and the male lead, placing them on opposing sides of the conflict. Sources indicate Sweeney is actively involved in the casting process for her co-star.
Centineo gained prominence through netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and has as expanded his roles to include the DC superhero Atom Smasher in Black Adam and a part in A24’s Warfare. He is currently preparing to shoot a prequel to Rambo in early 2025.
Legendary previously explored Drew Starkey (Outer Banks) for the male lead, but those discussions did not progress. The Gundam film, distributed by paramount, is currently slated for release on October 16, 2026.
