new Dental Clinic Opens in Port-cartier to Address North Shore Healthcare Gap
Port-Cartier, Quebec - The Nordic Dental Clinic officially opened its doors in Port-Cartier’s Galeries des Îles shopping center, aiming to alleviate significant demand for dental services across Quebec’s North Shore region. Launched just months ago, the clinic already maintains a waiting list of future patients, according to founder Dr. Armando Angulo Proenza.
Dr. Proenza, who has served the North Shore since 2022, established the clinic to strengthen access to oral healthcare for residents of communities including sept-Îles, Havre-Saint-Pierre, Baie-Trinité, Port-Cartier, and Baie-Comeau. ”When we informed that we were opening a clinic in Port-Cartier and we were given the opportunity to communicate with us, we were overwhelmed,” Dr. Proenza stated.
The need is ample, with Dr. Proenza reporting patients who haven’t seen a dentist in up to ten years, frequently enough presenting with serious health issues. “I meet peopel for whom it’s been eight years, ten years since they’ve seen a dentist. We encounter serious health problems. I’m happy to stay in the region because I feel useful,” he said.
The Nordic Dental Clinic offers a comprehensive range of services, including preventive hygiene, general dentistry, dental implantology, and prosthetics. The clinic utilizes advanced technology, including 3D tomography, digital radiology, and intraoral scanning systems, to enhance diagnostics and treatment.
The clinic’s build-out, designed and equipped by Panrad, transformed a former retail space into a modern dental facility. Dr. Proenza currently operates with a team of three and is actively seeking to hire a dental hygienist. While currently performing routine check-ups himself, he notes patients have expressed no concerns with a dentist providing this service typically handled by a hygienist.
Dr. proenza emphasized the importance of expanding dental services in the region, stating, “We need to bring in more. I greatly respect the work of all my colleagues who work in the region. For me there is no competition [entre nous]. For there to be competition, demand must be minimum, while it overflows.” He views his clinic’s presence as a vital contribution to the health and well-being of North Shore communities.
