Lynn, MA - A late rally by UMaine Club Baseball ended the playoff run for NECBA Club Baseball in a heartbreaking 7-6 defeat in the NECBA Semifinals on Wednesday. The Black Bears’ walk-off victory dashed the Terriers’ hopes of reaching the NECBA Championship game.
The NECBA Club Baseball team finished their fall season with a 13-9 record, marked by significant wins and memorable moments. This semifinal appearance underscored the program’s growth and competitiveness within the New England Club Baseball Association. Despite the loss, the Terriers demonstrated resilience throughout the tournament and established a foundation for future success.
The game remained scoreless through the first two innings before UMaine broke the tie with a single run in the bottom of the third. The Black Bears extended their advantage to 3-0 with two runs in the fourth,but NECBA responded in the fifth,narrowing the gap to 3-2.
NECBA continued their momentum into the sixth inning, scoring four additional runs to take a 6-4 lead. However, UMaine answered back in the bottom of the seventh, plating three runs to secure a 7-6 walk-off victory and eliminate the terriers from playoff contention.
Despite the disappointing end to their season,NECBA Club baseball’s 13-9 record reflects a prosperous fall campaign and a promising outlook for the future of the program.
