Moderates Address Staff Singing ”We Hate Andersson” at Campaign Launch
STOCKHOLM – The moderate Party is addressing an incident at its campaign launch event Monday, where several staff members were heard singing a modified version of the song “Through fire and water,” replacing a lyric with “and we hate Andersson,” referring to former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson.
The incident occurred as the song played during the event, which featured Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson presenting the party’s new campaign bus and apparel. Parliamentary members Edward Riedl, Ida Drougge, and Douglas Thor were also in attendance. The altered lyrics echo a recent trend in the football world where fans add lines to the song, typically substituting “AIK” for the object of their dislike.
Party Press Manager Amos Friedman swiftly intervened, stating he “made sure thay quit” the singing. “Of course, it was an inappropriate behavior,” Friedman said. “In our party we deal with this at once, we do not try to sweep things under the rug unlike other parties.”
The Moderates plan to discuss the matter further with those involved. The incident raises questions about acceptable political discourse and the tone of campaigning as sweden approaches upcoming elections.
