Health ministry Orders Nationwide Recall of Jolife Peppers Due to Pesticide Levels
Rome, Italy – the Italian Ministry of Health has issued an urgent nationwide recall of ”Jolife” brand peppers after laboratory tests revealed pesticide residue levels exceeding established safety thresholds. The alert affects a limited number of packages, prompting the precautionary withdrawal from supermarket shelves across the country.
According to the Ministry, the affected peppers contain an “anomalous concentration of chemical residues possibly harmful if ingested, even in small quantities.” While no visual differences were observed between the contaminated and regular peppers, the issue was identified through rigorous laboratory analysis.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled “Jolife peppers” are advised not to consume them and to return them immediately to the point of sale. Supermarkets including LIDL, Esselunga, and other distribution chains have been informed and have initiated preventive removal from shelves.
A full refund will be provided upon return of the product, without receipt, in accordance with standard food recall procedures.Customers are urged to verify the lot number on the packaging against the official recall listings. Individuals who have already opened or partially consumed the product are advised not to continue with intake and to contact the retailer for return instructions.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to monitor food safety and maintain “rigorous controls along the entire supply chain,” stating that even isolated incidents necessitate thorough verification procedures to protect public health.
