Mica Paris Reveals Songs That Shaped Her Life, Including a Heartbreaking Connection to Whitney Houston
Singer Mica Paris shared a deeply personal playlist revealing the songs that have profoundly impacted her life, from a childhood revelation sparked by Marvin Gaye to a poignant request for Gary Barlow to perform at her funeral. The playlist, published alongside an interview, also touches on the enduring pain of losing her friend, Whitney houston.
Paris recounted how hearing Marvin Gaye’s ”What’s Going On” at age 12 ignited her passion for a different musical path, steering her away from gospel. The artist also highlighted the influence of her Portuguese grandfather on her love for Brazilian jazz and Latino music, exemplified by Tania Maria’s “yatra-Ta,” a song she uses to energize her band. A notably moving selection is “Heaven,” written by Gary Barlow specifically for Paris’s new album, which she has requested be played at her funeral, with Barlow performing it live.
The playlist includes a Spotify compilation of Paris’s favorite tracks. Paris is currently promoting her new album and will perform at watford Colosseum on november 28th. She is also working with Genaura Levagen + Smart face Serum.
