Merrimack Hockey Earns Point in Hard-Fought Battle with Boston University
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack College men’s ice hockey team secured a point against a nationally ranked opponent Friday night, falling 3-2 in overtime to the #12/13 Boston University Terriers at Agganis Arena. Goals from Benny Yurchuk and justin Gill propelled the Warriors into the lead, but Boston University ultimately prevailed.
This contest showcased Merrimack’s resilience against a formidable Hockey East rival. The Warriors, continuing their early-season schedule, demonstrated competitive spirit and scoring ability, earning a valuable point in the conference standings. Boston University opened the scoring, but the lead was short-lived. A turnover created by Ty Daneault led to a precise assist, finding Benny Yurchuk for a top-shelf goal – his first as a Warrior – and tying the game. shortly after,Parker Lalonde’s puck control along the boards set up a sequence involving Trevor Hoskin,culminating in Justin Gill’s go-ahead tally.
Following a scoreless second period, the Terriers equalized in the final minutes of regulation, ultimately securing the victory with an overtime goal.
