Mendoza Province is updating requirements for professional driver’s licenses,effective November 7th, aligning with national Traffic law 24,449. The changes, detailed in Decree 2308 from the Ministry of Security and Justice, adjust licence validity periods based on driver age and psychophysical exam results.
The new regulations impact Class C, D, and E licenses – covering truck drivers, passenger transport, school buses, and specialized vehicles. Drivers aged 21 to 65 will receive five-year license validity upon passing the required psychophysical examination.
Drivers between 66 and 70 years old will see thier licenses valid for only two years, contingent on passing the psychophysical exam.The most significant change affects drivers over 70, who will now be required to undergo an annual psychophysical evaluation to maintain their professional license.
Provincial authorities state the updated system aims to ensure the safety of drivers and other road users by verifying ongoing physical and psychological fitness to operate commercial vehicles.
