Meen Green Football Dominates ⁤American all-Conference team Selections

NEW ⁣ORLEANS – The University of ⁢North Texas football team saw ten ⁤players recognized on the American Athletic Conference All-Conference teams, announced Tuesday, ahead of their championship ‌matchup against Tulane. Wide receiver Wyatt Young and offensive lineman Gabe Blair headlined the ‌selections with First Team honors.

Young, a standout ⁤receiver, has recorded 62 catches for ⁣1,203 yards and ⁤10 touchdowns through⁢ 12 games. He currently ranks second in program history for single-season receiving yards, needing just 119 more to tie Casey FitzgeraldS record of 1,322 yards set in 2007.Young also established a new American Conference single-game receiving record with 295 yards against Rice.

Blair anchored ‌the Mean‍ Green offensive line, which paved the way for a ⁣nationally leading ⁤scoring offense and the most rushing touchdowns in ⁤the country with 44. ⁣Joining Blair on the Second Team were offensive linemen Braydon Nelson and Tay Yanta II, while Jimto‌ Obidegwu and Johnny Dickson III earned Third Team recognition.

Linebacker‍ Ethan⁢ Wesloski and cornerback David Fisher were also named to the Second Team. Wesloski leads the⁤ team with 97 tackles, including 50 ⁢solo stops, and 9.0 tackles for loss, contributing to⁣ a Mean Green defense that has forced 25 turnovers resulting in 118 offensive points. Fisher,​ a transfer from Sam Houston State​ alongside ⁣defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity, has 42 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, an interception, and a team-high ⁤seven pass breakups.

Rounding out the ⁢selections on the Third⁢ Team ⁣were ⁤linebacker Trey fields (92 ⁢tackles, ⁣three fumble ‍recoveries), ‌safety Will Jones II (60 tackles, two interceptions, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries), and lineman Obidegwu.

The ⁤Mean Green will face Tulane in the American Athletic Conference Championship on Friday‍ at 7 p.m. CT in New Orleans, with the game‌ broadcast nationally on ABC.
