Title: Man accused of arson had ties to targeted Winnipeg businesses

A winnipeg man has been charged in connection with a⁢ series of arsons that targeted businesses he was employed by, police⁣ announced Thursday. Jesse ⁤James Mulaire, 33, faces⁣ multiple counts of ⁣arson relating to fires⁢ at three establishments across⁢ the city earlier this month.

The investigation revealed Mulaire⁢ worked at two⁣ of the businesses that were deliberately set ablaze: ‍a restaurant in the 1800 block of ​Pembina ⁢Highway and ‍a business in the ⁤1400 block of​ Regent Avenue West. A third ‌fire occurred at a business in the 600 block⁣ of Empress Street. The arsons prompted a city-wide investigation and raised concerns about business security and public safety. This case highlights the ⁣potential for insider threats and⁤ the devastating impact of arson on local businesses, ⁤with investigations ongoing to determine the full extent of the damages and potential motives.

Winnipegpolice began‍ investigating after ​responding⁤ to a fire at the Regent Avenue​ West business on ⁢November 10th.Fires ⁢at the⁢ Pembina Highway restaurant⁤ and Empress Street location followed on November 12th and 13th, ⁣respectively. No ‍injuries were reported in any of the incidents, but the​ fires caused notable property⁤ damage.

Mulaire was arrested Wednesday⁢ and remains in custody. He is facing charges of arson with disregard⁤ for human life, arson damaging property, and attempt to commit arson. The investigation continues, and police ⁢are⁢ asking anyone with⁢ information to contact the Winnipeg Police Service.
