The program, spearheaded by the Malambo Mayor’s Office, provides specialized nutritional support tailored to the needs of the aging population. Recognizing the increased vulnerability of seniors to malnutrition – which can lead to weakened immune systems, increased hospitalizations, and diminished overall well-being – the local government has prioritized this intervention. The effort seeks to ensure older residents have access to balanced diets and essential nutrients,promoting healthier and more active lives.
The nutrition plan includes the delivery of fortified food baskets and regular monitoring of participants’ health status. According to a statement released by the Mayor’s Office, the program is designed to address specific dietary deficiencies common among older adults, such as vitamin D, calcium, and protein. The food baskets contain items like eggs, milk, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins.
