Maguire Could Reunite with Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia as Al-Nassr Circles
RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA – Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is a prime target for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, potentially setting the stage for a reunion with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. The move comes as Maguire enters the final year of his contract at old Trafford, with Manchester United reportedly not planning to offer an extension.
Maguire, who joined Manchester United from Leicester City for £80 million in 2019, will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January. Both Al-Nassr and Al-Ettifaq have reportedly expressed interest, according to the Mirror.
The 30-year-old central defender acknowledged his contract situation earlier this year, stating: “Last year, the clause was in their hands, so I had no option. There was no discussion. they simply activated it and the contract was extended. This year, of course, I am at the end of the year.” He further added, “I am sure that in the coming months, they will meet and we will have to discuss our future and their intention to extend, unless the transfer window reopens in January. Obviously, I have a precise idea of what I want to do and become. I don’t want to tell everyone, but it’s a great club and it would be absurd to want to go away as soon as possible.”
A lucrative offer from Al-Nassr could prove tempting for Maguire, particularly as he aims to regain his place in the England national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup. A move to Saudi arabia would not only offer a important financial package but also the prospect to play alongside Ronaldo, with whom he shared the pitch during the Portuguese superstar’s time at Manchester United.
