Long Island residents can expect continued pleasant ⁤conditions through the weekend, but forecasters are monitoring a potential coastal storm‌ system developing for late next week.While Halloween remains several days away, the possibility of rain looms⁢ over trick-or-treating plans.

The extended ‍forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Friday with a high near 62 degrees and a low around 43. Saturday and Sunday will remain mild with highs around 60 and 57 degrees respectively, and ⁢overnight lows hovering near 44 ⁢and 42 degrees. Monday and Tuesday will see continued sun​ and clouds, with highs around 56 and a slight shower chance on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday bring increased cloud⁢ cover and the potential for rain showers, with highs around 58 and 57‌ degrees. ‍Currently, Halloween Friday is​ projected to have lingering rain with⁤ a high of 59 degrees.

Beyond the local forecast, meteorologists are ⁢tracking Hurricane Melissa in the ‌Caribbean. The storm is expected to intensify into a Category ​4 or 5 hurricane and bring heavy rainfall and life-threatening flooding to Hispaniola and Jamaica through the ⁢weekend. However, ​Melissa is currently ‌forecast to move out to sea and is separate from the developing coastal storm perhaps impacting Long Island next week.
