Electricity & Gas Prices Set for‌ Shift in lithuania Starting January 2026

VILNIUS – Lithuanian households can expect changes to their⁢ electricity and natural gas bills beginning January ‍2026,following recently approved tariff adjustments. The revisions‍ aim to balance market realities with support for vulnerable consumers, while also leveraging renewable energy sources.

the approved changes will‍ see a 7.32%⁤ increase – 1.5 cents – in the standard electricity tariff for single-zone users, raising the price to‌ 22 cents per kilowatt-hour (including VAT). Together, vulnerable ⁣consumers will benefit from a 12.2% decrease – 2.5⁢ cents -⁤ bringing their rate down to⁤ 18 cents per kWh (including VAT). For those on a two-time zone plan, the ⁢day rate will increase by 2.5 cents to 25.8 cents per kWh (VAT included), while the night rate will rise by 1.8‌ cents to 15.6 cents per kWh ‍(VAT included). Vulnerable consumers on this‌ plan will⁢ see daytime rates fall ⁤by 2.8 cents⁤ to 20.5 cents and nighttime rates decrease by 0.9 cents to‍ 12.9 cents per kWh.

These reductions for vulnerable consumers are driven by two factors: a government decision to utilize excess income from electricity producers earned ⁤between December 2021 and June 2022, and a⁤ commitment ⁢from “Ignitis” to supply these‌ consumers with electricity generated⁢ from its⁤ cheaper solar and wind farms.

Natural gas prices will also see adjustments. the smallest household consumers – those using‌ up to 300 cubic meters‌ annually -⁢ will experience a 10.1% decrease in the variable tariff, down 10 cents to 0.89 euros per cubic meter (including VAT). Though, this will be offset by an 18.2% increase in the fixed monthly ⁣subscription fee, rising 18 cents to 1.17 euros (including VAT).

Consumers using between 300 ⁤and 20,000 cubic meters of gas will see⁤ a 5.8% decrease in the variable tariff (down 4 cents to 0.65 euros per cubic meter,‌ including VAT).⁤ Larger consumers, using over 20,000 cubic meters, will experience a 4.6% decrease (down 3 cents‌ to 0.62 euros per cubic meter, including VAT). The fixed monthly‌ fee will remain unchanged at 3.99 euros (including VAT) for ⁤these two⁢ higher-usage groups.
