LHC Faces German Challenge in Champions League Home Match This Friday
Lausanne HC’s defense will need to be sharp from the opening face-off this Friday as they prepare to counter the offensive power of Ingolstadt, the German team that recently delivered a decisive victory over EV Zug. The match marks the second Champions Hockey League game at the Vaudoise Aréna this season for the Swiss club.
Ingolstadt, founded in 1964, ascended to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in 2002 after three consecutive seasons reaching the German second division final. The team secured its first and only DEL championship in 2014, overcoming a 9th-place regular season finish to defeat strong opponents from Hamburg and Berlin en route to the title. They reached the final again the following season but did not claim the trophy.
The club has participated in four Champions Hockey League seasons – 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2023/24 – achieving its best result to date by reaching the knockout stages in 2023.

Following Friday’s match, Lausanne HC will travel to Davos to begin their National League championship campaign this Tuesday. They will than return to the Vaudoise Aréna on Friday, September 12th at 7:45 p.m. for a derby match against Fribourg-Gottéron.
