Los Angeles Area Receives Significant​ Rainfall, Boosting Wet Season Totals

A mid-November storm delivered ample rainfall across Southern California from Friday ⁤through Monday,⁤ significantly impacting early-season precipitation totals.⁢ While much of the state remains drought-free, the recent downpour offers a promising start to CaliforniaS⁤ wet season and provides‍ a crucial boost to water resources. The next Drought Monitor report, due Thursday, will ‍reflect the impact of this rainfall.

The wettest November on record for downtown los Angeles was in 1985, with 2.43 inches of ​rain.more ​wet weather is forecast for the Monday commute and later this week.

Currently, moderate to severe drought​ conditions are reported in pockets of Southern California. Nine percent of the state is experiencing severe drought, primarily in orange, western Riverside, and parts of San Bernardino counties.⁢ Approximately ⁣32 percent of California is in moderate drought, while nearly 50 percent is drought-free. This represents an improvement from‌ last year, when 5 percent of the state was in⁤ severe drought and 17 percent in moderate drought. Conditions have also improved ​since three months ago, when 23 percent of the state was in severe drought and nearly 40 percent in moderate drought.
