Dupont Underground Debuts with La Pluma Theater’s Gripping ‘The Swallow‘
Washington, D.C.- La Pluma Theatre inaugurated it’s residency at the Dupont Underground with a stark and emotionally resonant production of Guillem Clua’s The Swallow (La Golondrina), running through December 14, 2025. The play,featuring Luz Nicolás and Victor Salinas,marks a notable opening for both the newly established theatre company and the revitalized Dupont Underground arts space.
The production arrives at a moment when audiences are increasingly seeking stories that grapple with fundamental questions of humanity.As a projection displayed before and after the performance asks, “What is it that makes us human… What is it that really defines our humanity?” The Swallow offers a compelling, intimate exploration of these themes through the story of two individuals confronting a life-altering secret. The play’s deliberate pacing, notably in the Spanish dialog, prompted reflection on the nuanced power of language and expression.
La Pluma Theatre’s launch is part of a larger vision by Dupont Underground’s Executive Director Ana Harvey to transform the former trolley station into a vibrant cultural hub. Harvey is curating a consortium of “resident companies” to establish the Underground as “one of the most exciting cultural and gathering places in the nation’s capital.”
The Swallow (La Golondrina) plays through December 14, 2025, at the Dupont Underground, 19 Dupont Circle NW. Tickets, priced at $25, are available online at Eventbrite.
