Toronto, ON - july 11, 2024 – Calls are mounting for the Canadian government to block British musical acts Bob Vylan and Bad Signal from performing in Canada following controversial chants during their performances at the Glastonbury music festival earlier this year. The chants,specifically “death to the IDF,” have sparked widespread debate regarding free speech,antisemitism,and the expression of political views.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau labelled the Glastonbury performance a “hateful tirade.” bob Vylan, a British rap punk duo comprised of Bobby Vylan and Bamidele Adebiyi, made the chant during their set. Bad Signal,another UK-based act,reportedly engaged in similar chants.
