Quentin Tarantino‘s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Re-Cut Lands with Expanded Anime Sequence, Structural Changes
A newly restored and re-edited version of quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, titled Kill Bill: the whole Bloody Affair, has been released, presenting the full saga as a single, cohesive film. The re-cut features an expanded anime sequence detailing O-Ren Ishii’s backstory,a single additional shot of a sliced hand,and a notable structural change - relocating a key reveal from the end of Vol. 1 to near the conclusion of the combined film. this alteration aims to ensure new viewers experience the plot unfolding alongside The Bride, enhancing emotional resonance.
The film remains a vibrant ”mash-up maverick’s most overt work of cultural bastardization-slash-homage,” blending spaghetti Westerns, spy B movies, Japanese chanbara, and Chinese wuxia, choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping. Though, the release is also marked by the passing of several key figures involved in the original production, including David Carradine, Sonny Chiba, Michael Madsen, Michael Parks, and editor sally Menke. “Kill Bill should have always been this way, but it’s better late than never,” the review states. Limited screenings are available on 70mm and 35mm film prints.
