Texans Remain Tight-Lipped on Joe Mixon’s return as Week 12 Approaches
HOUSTON – The Houston Texans continue to offer no public timeline for the potential return of running back Joe Mixon, leaving his status for the remainder of the season uncertain.Head coach DeMeco Ryans stated he had “no” updates on Mixon during a news conference on October 27, and the team has maintained that silence as they prepare for Week 12 with a 5-5 record.
Mixon has been sidelined as an undisclosed injury, and the Texans have not indicated whether their playoff aspirations will factor into any decision regarding his return. In 14 games played in 2024, Mixon recorded 1,016 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns on 245 carries.
Currently, the Texans’ running back depth chart consists of Nick Chubb, Woody Marks, Dare Ogunbowale, Dameon Pierce, and British Brooks. While Chubb is listed as the starter, Marks has seen nearly equal carries (99 each) and has out-snapped Chubb 338 to 253 on offense. Marks has also proven effective as a receiver, totaling 190 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 16 catches.Chubb averages 4.2 yards per carry, while Marks averages 3.5.
Ogunbowale has been used sparingly as a receiver, Pierce has played only four games and hasn’t seen offensive action as Week 5, and Brooks has primarily played as a fullback.
