Jack White to Perform Halftime Show as Detroit Lions‘ Thanksgiving Day Game Ushers in New Era
Detroit rock icon Jack White will perform the halftime show at the Detroit lions’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers, the team announced Saturday. The performance marks a shift in the Lions’ tradition of featuring prominent hip-hop artists during the annual game, previously headlined by Eminem.
The Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game is a 90-year tradition and a nationally televised event, drawing significant attention to Detroit and providing a platform for local artists. This year’s game,airing on Fox at 1 p.m.ET-a new kickoff time from the traditional 12:30 p.m.-will also feature a performance of the national anthem by Detroit native and 17-time Grammy Award winner CeCe Winans.
White, known for his work with The White stripes, The Raconteurs, and as a solo artist, joins a list of past halftime performers that includes Eminem, who has become a familiar face at Ford Field during the NFL season. The Lions are also partnering with Feeding America, encouraging viewers to donate to the institution to support food access during the holiday season.
