AMES, Iowa – No. 10 Iowa State (9-0) seeks to achieve its best start to a season in over a decade when it hosts Northern illinois on Wednesday.A victory would give teh cyclones a 10-0 record,surpassing the 2013-14 team’s 14-0 start as the program’s best under head coach Bill Fennelly.
Iowa state is off to its fifth 9-0 start in program history, all occurring during the Fennelly era. The Cyclones are being led by the play of transfer point guard Jada Williams, who is averaging 11.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. Williams has recorded three double-doubles this season, including a career-high 11 assists against Indiana. She scored a career-high 23 points against Indiana, shooting 8-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
the Cyclones’ strong start is also fueled by the contributions of Addy Brown and Audi Crooks, both of whom have garnered national preseason recognition.brown and Crooks were selected to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team and appeared on the watch lists for the Naismith trophy, USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, and Wooden Award. Williams was also named to the Nancy lieberman Award watch list, while Brown and Crooks were recognized on the Katrina McClain and Lisa Leslie Award watch lists, respectively.
Kenzie Hare contributed nine points in Iowa State’s most recent game, shooting 3-of-3 from the floor with two 3-pointers and two steals. Iowa State is looking to continue its winning streak and build upon its impressive early-season success.
