Hollywood Honors Chadwick Boseman with Star on Walk of Fame
Los Angeles, CA – Chadwick Boseman’s legacy was celebrated Thursday with the unveiling of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an emotional ceremony attended by his wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, and colleagues including director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan. The event served as a poignant tribute to the actor, who died August 28, 2020, after a private four-year battle with colon cancer.
Ledward-boseman delivered a moving speech, recalling her late husband as a “spiritual teacher” and protector who encouraged her to “protect her energy.” She emphasized the importance of the community that supported Boseman throughout his career, stating, “colleagues that trusted his vision, that lifted him up and forged a real brotherhood: you have no idea how pivotal those moments were.”
She continued, “Chad, today we recognize a lifetime of artistry. We recognize yoru skill and your devotion, and we cement your legacy as a hero and an icon. You lived with honor, and you walked with truth. You were as brilliant as you were gorgeous as you were kind. we love you, we miss you, we thank you.”
A particularly touching moment occurred when Ledward-Boseman knelt to place a pair of her husband’s shoes beside his star-a simple gesture imbued with profound meaning.
Coogler and Jordan were among those who highlighted Boseman’s humility and generosity. The ceremony underscored Boseman’s impact not only as an actor but as a cultural figure. He first gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in “42,” and continued to embody influential ancient figures in films like “Get On Up” (James Brown) and “Marshall” (thurgood Marshall).
Boseman’s role as King T’Challa in “Captain America: Civil War” and the blockbuster “Black Panther” propelled him to global stardom. He received posthumous acclaim for his final film, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” further solidifying his enduring legacy.
