Hulk Hogan Biopic Scrapped Over “Edgy” Script,Reveals Eric Bischoff
A planned Hulk Hogan biopic was shelved due to a script deemed too controversial, according to WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff. Speaking on his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff detailed how the project, wich Hogan ultimately vetoed, contained elements that risked damaging the wrestling icon’s brand and potentially straining his relationship with WWE.
The script, which Bischoff possesses a copy of, presented a perspective on Hogan’s life and career that he believed would have elevated the star, but Hogan feared backlash from those portrayed within it. “There were things in that script that certain people would not be happy to see,” Bischoff explained. “The way certain people were positioned, the way stories were positioned…there would’ve been some people that may have taken exception to it.”
Bischoff indicated Hogan prioritized maintaining his standing with WWE over the potential benefits of a film that might have sparked controversy. “So, Hulk just said, you know, long-term I’m just gonna let the movie go away,” Bischoff stated. “Truly unfortunate, because I actually…it’s a great script!”
The future of a Hogan biopic remains uncertain, with Bischoff citing rights issues and the current focus of Hogan’s family – including his widow, Skye Daily, who is currently involved in a medical malpractice lawsuit – as potential roadblocks. Despite this,Bischoff left the door slightly open, noting,”You never know! Things change so fast in the moment.”
