HOUSTON - Residents should prepare for a shift in weather conditions as warm temperatures give way to potential showers late Thursday and storms friday, according to Your Gulf Coast Weather Authority. After experiencing unseasonably high temperatures, a storm system is approaching Southeast Texas, bringing an end to the current dry spell.
The approaching system will initially bring muggy conditions and spotty showers by midday Thursday. However, the bulk of the rain is expected to hold off until overnight Thursday and into Friday morning. While severe weather and heavy rain are not anticipated to be widespread, Central Texas is currently facing the threat of heavy rainfall and possible flooding.
Friday marks the period with the highest chance of precipitation. Though the storm system is expected to weaken as it moves into the region, an unsettled weather pattern is forecast to persist for the next ten days, with intermittent showers likely.
Looking ahead, Thanksgiving week could become active with the potential for two storm systems – one around the Monday of Thanksgiving week and another the following weekend. These systems are predicted to bring two cold fronts, the frist offering slightly cooler air and the second, after Thanksgiving, ushering in considerably chillier temperatures.
