helene Olafsen Sells House Amidst Fine threats and Neighbor Disputes
Reality TV personality Helene Olafsen has sold her property on Malmøya, just months after receiving notices of potential fines from the Planning and Building Agency and escalating conflicts with neighbors. The house, originally purchased for NOK 15,900,000 in 2019, was listed for sale following disputes over an alleged illegal outbuilding and fence.
The sale concludes a period of contention for Olafsen and her husband, Jørgen Nilsen, who faced the possibility of a NOK 30,000 fine, plus daily penalties of NOK 500 for the continued presence of the disputed structures. The property’s listing followed reporting by Nettavisen detailing the ongoing legal battles and neighborly disagreements.
Broker jan Houeland confirmed the house sold quickly, stating, “Sales went very fast. There were 25 people on display, and many who were interested in the property and the house.” Houeland indicated the sale occurred on Monday and involved two bidders, though he declined to disclose the final sale price, noting both buyer and seller were satisfied with the agreement. The property, built in 1885, sits on a 3297 square meter plot and was initially offered with a price indication of NOK 19.9 million.
Nettavisen previously reported on the conflicts between olafsen and Nilsen and both their neighbors and the Planning and Building Agency. In 2019, Olafsen expressed her long-term commitment to the property, telling Nettavisen, “It is a cozy, old house on Nordstrand that we will live in and never move from. Here we are going to live out.”
Attempts to reach Olafsen for comment have been unsuccessful.
