Boston, MA – Harpoon Brewery today unveiled a redesigned look for its flagship harpoon IPA, balancing a nod too the brewery’s pioneering roots with a contemporary aesthetic. The refresh, rolling out across all packaging formats, aims to solidify Harpoon IPA’s position as a leader in the New England craft beer scene.
Founded in 1986 as the first craft brewery in Boston, Harpoon has long been synonymous with the growth of craft brewing in the region. This packaging update isn’t simply cosmetic; it’s a strategic move to connect with both loyal, long-time drinkers and a new generation of craft beer enthusiasts as the market evolves. The redesign honors the brewery’s history while signaling continued innovation and a commitment to quality.
The new packaging maintains the familiar Harpoon imagery while incorporating a cleaner, more modern design. The update extends to cans, bottles, six-packs, twelve-packs, and tap handles, ensuring a consistent brand presence. Despite the visual evolution, the beer itself remains unchanged – the same radiant, floral, and crisp IPA introduced in 1993 that helped define the category.
Harpoon Brewery’s mission has always centered on building community through remarkable beer. The brewery has expanded beyond its original Seaport District location to include facilities in Windsor, VT, Manchester, NH, a seasonal Boston common pop-up, and Logan Airport. Harpoon IPA remains a cornerstone of the brewery’s portfolio, alongside a range of seasonal and limited-release beers.
Harpoon Brewery is part of Barrel One Collective, which also includes Long Trail, Smuttynose, and Wachusett, all focused on championing quality craft beverages and community engagement.
