Hamburg – Füchse Berlin defeated SC DHfK Leipzig 34-26 (15-12) on Saturday,propelling the team to fourth place in the Handball Bundesliga standings. The victory comes as Berlin seeks to solidify its position among the league’s top contenders, while Leipzig remains at the bottom of the table.
Despite a shaky start marked by technical errors and a strong defensive performance from Leipzig, Füchse Berlin rallied, particularly fueled by goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev’s saves. The turning point came in the 21st minute with a red card issued to Leipzig’s William Bogojevic,allowing Berlin to capitalize with a 6-2 run and establish a four-goal lead before halftime.
The second half saw Berlin maintain its confidence,extending the lead to nine goals (31-22) seven minutes before the end of the match. Coach Nicolej Krickau then utilized substitutions to conserve player energy.
Mathias gidsel led Berlin’s scoring with eight goals, followed by Tim Freihöfer with six.Domenico Ebner, Leipzig’s goalkeeper, proved a challenge for Berlin’s attack despite the final scoreline.
