israeli Forces Advance Beyond Ceasefire Line in Gaza City, Trapping Residents
Gaza City – Israeli forces have moved the demarcation line in eastern Gaza City, widening the area under their control and prompting accusations from Palestinian officials that civilians are being trapped, according to reports from Al-Jazeera, WAFA, and the Hamas-administered Gaza Strip’s government media office. The “yellow line,” established as part of the October 10 ceasefire agreement brokered under American pressure, had previously defined the limits of Israeli withdrawal.
The Gaza Strip government media office reported via Telegram that Israeli forces advanced the line by 300 meters, using yellow concrete blocks to physically mark the new boundary. This expansion has reportedly led to the siege of dozens of families in the affected areas, who were caught off guard by the tank advance and are now unable to evacuate. The fate of these residents “remains unknown,” according to the media office.
An Al-Jazeera journalist on the ground confirmed witnessing Israeli soldiers installing new yellow blocks and signs in the chadjaya district, tho noted the border remains incompletely marked, leaving many Palestinians uncertain of its exact location. “With this latest advance in Gaza’s Chadjaya neighborhood, more Palestinians are unable to reach their homes,” the journalist reported. “People say it’s a cage, because they are pushed back and stuck in the western part of Gaza.”
the Gaza Strip government media office has condemned the “silence of mediators and guarantors” and called on them – specifically naming US President Trump – to “assume their duties” and “act seriously to stop these crimes.” They accuse Israel of violating its commitments under the ceasefire agreement.
Between Thursday and Friday, the israeli army stated it killed eight Palestinians it identified as ”terrorists” who allegedly crossed or had crossed the yellow line and posed a threat to troops in southern Gaza.
Eastern Gaza City is currently subjected to “continuous artillery shelling,” according to WAFA. The developments raise concerns about the fragility of the ceasefire and the potential for further displacement and civilian harm within the densely populated Gaza strip.
