Ghiarettolo Purifier reopens Following Complete Renovation, Boosting Water quality & Sustainability in La Spezia Province
Santo Stefano Magra, Italy – The fully renovated Ghiarettolo purification plant was inaugurated today, marking a significant step forward in ACAM Acque’s strategy to improve the reliability, performance, and efficiency of water purification across the region. The project, funded in part through the integrated water service tariff, promises enhanced water quality and environmental sustainability for communities throughout the province of La Spezia.
The upgrades represent a collaborative effort between ACAM Acque, the Province of la Spezia, and local municipalities like santo Stefano Magra. For years, officials have emphasized the critical need for investment in water infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of the area and protect its natural resources.
“I am fully satisfied with what this project represents for my territory, safeguarding the quality of life of my citizens,” declared the Mayor of Santo Stefano Magra, Paola Sisti. ”virtuous collaborations between entities always produce important results. In recent years, we have engaged in continuous dialog with ACAM-IREN, focusing on improving the services of the infrastructure connected to it, and we will continue on this path.”
The Province of La Spezia has prioritized completing the water cycle management,aiming to reduce environmental impact and operational costs through investments in efficient sewerage networks and purification plants. “This is an important program that must be developed according to planning that takes into account the development that the municipalities are experiencing in recent years,” stated President of the Province of La Spezia, Pierluigi Peracchini.”Today we must be aware…that without investments in these works too we will have serious problems to manage in our rivers and our sea.” He further emphasized the importance of proactive investment to avoid repeating past oversights.
According to Massimo Costa, CEO of Acam Acque, the integrated water service tariff – as regulated by ARERA – is “an essential instrument to guarantee the continuity of investments and with them a greater reliability of plants, better environmental performance and more efficient resource management.” He concluded, “Investing in quality means investing in the future sustainability of our communities.”
