Murat Yakin, coach of the Swiss national football team, faces a midfield reshuffle ahead of upcoming World cup qualifying matches against Sweden and Kosovo following a last-minute injury to Remo Freuler. The experienced midfielder will be unavailable for the crucial games,disrupting Yakin’s plans for securing a strong finish in the qualification campaign.
Freuler’s absence marks a critically important setback, as the 33-year-old Zurich player has been a consistent presence in the national team, rarely missing competitive matches-his last absence was over four years ago in a September 2021 World Cup qualifier against Italy. Throughout the current qualification cycle, Freuler delivered several impactful performances alongside captain Granit Xhaka.
Adding to Yakin’s challenges, denis Zakaria is also currently sidelined due to injury, eliminating a direct replacement option. Though, there is potential for a surprise return to the squad for Ardon Jashari, who recently recovered from a fibula fracture sustained two months ago and was included in AC milan’s matchday squad against Roma this past weekend.
