Landau University to Host Free HIV Testing on World AIDS Day

In recognition of World AIDS Day, a free HIV testing day will be held Monday, December 1st, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the atrium of the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University, Landau campus. The event, a collaboration between the university’s General Student Committee (AStA), the AIDS, Drug and Youth Welfare Landau eV, and the Südliche Weinstrasse Health Department, aims to provide details, reduce fears surrounding sexually transmitted infections, and offer individual protection advice.
Attendees can take a free, on-site rapid HIV test requiring only a drop of blood from a fingertip, with results available within minutes. Organizers note the test is most accurate twelve weeks after any potential exposure.
The campaign is supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Science and Health.
Additionally, the Südliche Weinstraße health department and AIDS, Drug and youth Welfare landau e. V. offer a free,confidential consultation service regarding sexually transmitted infections every third Tuesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Klaus-von-Klitzing-Straße 2 in Landau.Appointments are required and can be made anonymously by calling 06341 940-603 or emailing consultation hour(at)suedliche-weinstrasse.de. A six-week waiting period after potential exposure is recommended before undergoing a laboratory test at this consultation.
