A former bookkeeper in Florence County is facing charges after authorities say she misused a church credit card for over two years, racking up more than $112,000 in personal expenses. Melissa Edwards, of Florence, is currently held at the Florence County Detention Center, charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent.
The Florence County Sheriff‘s Office examination revealed that between March 20, 2023, and July 30, 2025, Edwards allegedly made approximately $112,312.07 in unauthorized purchases using the church’s credit card.
