Eric Church Wraps Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in American Flag During Ohio Concert
CLEVELAND, OH – Country star Eric church delivered a memorable performance at Rocket mortgage FieldHouse Friday night, highlighted by a patriotic moment where he exchanged a guitar pick for an american flag and draped it around himself while performing. The gesture resonated with a multigenerational crowd, drawing praise from Church himself for strong family values on display.
The concert featured a setlist spanning Church’s catalog, and opened with a performance by the Marcus King band, whose ’70s-inspired blues rock style set the stage for the evening. The five-piece band delivered an electric set, including a heartfelt cover of the Marshall Tucker band’s “can’t You See,” following an onstage plea for the band’s Rock Hall induction.
For many attendees, the concert was a family tradition. Jeff Hajek of Broadview Heights brings his sons to every Eric Church show in Northeast Ohio, viewing it as dedicated time together. “It’s time to spend together as men,” Hajek said. “Eric Church talks about faith, God and family. That’s why we are here.” His son, Nick Hajek, a recent transplant to Nashville, echoed the sentiment, enjoying the opportunity to reconnect with family despite living out of state.
Church acknowledged the diverse age range of the audience, commenting on the positive influence of parents in bringing their children to the show. “You guys are raising these kids right,” he told the crowd. “That’s good parenting right there.”
