Elmira Musician Turns Christmas Song into Hunger Relief Effort
ELMIRA, NY – Local indie/alternative artist greg Hill is using his music to fight food insecurity in the Southern Tier this holiday season. The Elmira native is donating 100% of the proceeds from his original single, “White Xmas,” to CHOW (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) to support their hunger relief efforts.
Hill, who has been writing and performing music as his teenage years, was motivated to act after witnessing the impact of recent delays in SNAP benefits caused by the federal government shutdown. He noticed increasingly long lines at local food pantries while working his day job and felt compelled to contribute.
“the biggest thing for me is we’re all human beings, and I know what it’s like to be hungry,” Hill said. “It hits a little close to home in that I’ve struggled before, so I know how it goes and how hard it is to climb out of that. So, the little amount of money I can donate is realy the least I can do.”
Hill recently released a full album, “twenty-seven,” and purchasers of “White Xmas” will also receive the song “Last of the American Girls.” The single is available for $5.
