Riga to Host High-Stakes Intercontinental Drift Cup, Garnering International Media Attention
Riga, Latvia – The Intercontinental Drift Cup is set to return to Riga after a four-year hiatus, attracting coverage from approximately one hundred foreign media outlets. The competition, a meaningful event in the drifting calendar, will feature a field of drivers acknowledging the high stakes despite a perhaps less competitive roster than previous championships.
The resumption of the Intercontinental Cup follows the termination of a three-year contract with a Russian promoter by the FIA following the war in Ukraine, necessitating the search for new organizers. Latvia’s Drift Masters Riga team, experienced in hosting FIA official competitions, has stepped in to manage the event. “The plus is an experience as we are working in all FIA official competitions, organizing the Drift Masters Riga stage, one of the most known in the largest series of Europe,” stated Elīne Bluša, Drift Organizer. Drivers anticipate a challenging but open competition, with the new technical regulations presenting both opportunities and a learning curve.”The race is very serious…opportunities for everyone,” one driver commented.
