Delhi to Observe Public Holiday on November 25, 2025 for 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur
New Delhi: The Delhi Government has announced November 25, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. The decision honors the ninth Sikh Guru, who was executed in 1675 by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for defending religious freedom.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta stated, “The delhi Government has decided to declare 25 November 2025 as a Public Holiday to commemorate the sacred occasion of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. May Guru Sahib’s timeless message of courage, compassion, and freedom of faith continue to guide and inspire us in our collective journey ahead.”
Here’s what will be closed and open:
* Government Offices: Most state government offices and departments will be closed.
* Educational Institutions: All government-run schools and many private schools are expected to be closed.
* hospitals: Emergency services and government hospitals will remain operational.
* Transportation: Delhi Metro, buses, and taxis will operate according to thier regular schedules.
The announcement follows an invitation from the Chief Minister for citizens of Delhi and across india to participate in a three-day commemoration at the Red Fort from November 23-25.
Indian railways will operate two special train services to facilitate travel to commemorative events.A 22-coach train will depart Patna Sahib on November 23 at 6:40 am, arriving at Sri Anandpur Sahib at 4:15 am on November 24. A 17-coach, fully AC train will also depart from old Delhi on November 22, 23, 24, and 25 at 7 AM, reaching Shri Anandpur Sahib.
Ravneet Singh bittu expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union minister Amit Shah, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini vaishnaw for providing the special train services.
