Delaware Football Heads too Winston-Salem for Saturday showdown wiht Wake Forest
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The University of Delaware football team will travel to Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium on Saturday to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Kickoff is scheduled for a time to be determined. This marks a key contest for the Blue Hens as they conclude their regular season schedule against a 7-3 ACC opponent.
Delaware (6-4) is coming off a strong offensive performance, led by running back Marcus Yarns, who has tallied 786 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Sean Wilson paces the Hens with 50 receptions for 714 yards and four receiving touchdowns, averaging 71.4 receiving yards per game – ranking first in the Coastal Athletic Association (CUSA) and 42nd nationally. Defensively, linebacker Gavin Milk leads the team with 85 tackles, 36th nationally and fourth in CUSA, averaging 8.5 tackles per game. The Blue & gold currently lead CUSA in passing offense (308.2 yards per game), first downs per game (23.9), average kick return yards (24.4), and average punt return yards (15.7).
Wake Forest, under first-year head coach Jake Dickert (7-3), is fresh off a 28-12 victory over North Carolina. The Demon Deacons’ offense is spearheaded by quarterback Robby Ashford, who has thrown for 1,535 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Demond Claiborne leads the ground attack with 812 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, while Chris Barnes is the team’s leading receiver with 504 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, safety Nick Andersen anchors the team with 81 tackles.
