Funeral arrangements Announced for Owen (Owenie) Gribben of Burren
Burren, County Down – September 8, 2025 – The community of Burren is mourning the loss of Owen (Owenie) Gribben, who passed away peacefully at Daisy Hill Hospital surrounded by family. Funeral services have been scheduled to celebrate his life and offer condolences to his bereaved family.
Owenie Gribben, formerly of Cabra and a resident of 9 Milltown Street, Burren, is remembered as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.He is survived by his wife, Margaret, and his sons Paul (Hannah), Eugene (Tara), John (Jo), and Gareth (Ryan). He leaves behind a legacy cherished by his eight grandchildren – Shauna, Emma, Eamon, Isabella, Lucy, Ollie, Sean, and Max – as well as his sisters Annie and Patricia. He was predeceased by his brothers John, P.J., and Peter.
Reposing at his home from 6:00 PM on Tuesday, family and friends will have the possibility to pay their respects. A removal will take place on Thursday at 11:30 AM, proceeding to St.Mary’s Church, Burren, for a 12:00 PM Requiem Mass, which will be live-streamed via churchmedia.tv. Following the Mass, interment will occur in the adjoining cemetery. The family has requested a private morning on the day of the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the M.S. society. Contributions can be placed in a donation box at the family home or submitted directly through the M.S. Society website at mssociety.org.uk. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support during this challenging time.
