Daddy Yankee, the Puerto Rican singer of Reguetón, will return to the music industry at Billboard Latin Music 2025, from October 20 to 24 in Miami Beach. DY will participate in the panel “The power of reinvention,” an “intimate and revealing session” where he will reflect on his career, the evolution of his art, and his next chapter. Billboard reported on August 20 that this marks his frist participation since announcing his stage retirement in 2022. Leila Cobo, director of Latin content and Spanish in Billboard, stated his reinvention path is ”inspiring and deeply relevant to the new generation of artists and fans.” The artist, ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, announced his retirement after 30 years with a final concert in December 2023, after which he focused on Christian music. However, he released a new single, ‘Smile’, in july and changed his artistic name to Dy to avoid royalty payments to his ex-wife after a nearly 30-year marriage. Billboard emphasized that DY’s return marks “the beginning of a new era defined by reinvention, narrative and a global ambition.” Billboard latin Music Week, considered the most significant event for the Spanish music industry, will be held at the Fillmore Miami Beach Theater. Othre artists attending include Pablo Alborán, Silvana Estrada, Anuel AA, Guaynaa, Ela Taubert, Carín León, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Goyo, Group 5, Laura Pausini, Luis R. Conriquez, Myke Towers, Neton Vega, and Ozuna.
