Parra Suarez Claims Victory as Crédit Agricole Cycling Series Heads to Guadeloupe
Pointe-Noire, Guadeloupe – Hernan Parra Suarez of the Vélo Club de Grand-Case secured a win in the 12th round of the mountain race held in Pointe-Noire last Sunday, marking a high point for VCG as the Crédit agricole 31 Days cycling series prepares for its final three stages in Guadeloupe. The six-day competition,beginning April 20th,will determine the overall champion of the 6th edition of the race.
The Crédit Agricole series, a key event for Caribbean cycling, is currently led by Miny Lionel of Abymes with 88 points, followed by Edwin Sanchez Anzola (Team Carene Cycling Development) at 77 points, and Parra Suarez in third with 70 points. The upcoming stages in Guadeloupe represent a crucial opportunity for riders to climb the general classification standings and vie for the coveted title. Alban Clerc also achieved his 10th best time in the time trial,adding to VCG’s strong performance.
The series will kick off on April 20th with a 119km road race from Morne-a-l’eau to Petit-Canal. Subsequent stages include a 6km individual time trial (April 21st) between Basse-Terre and Gourbeyre, a 111km race from Gosier to Pointe-Noire (April 22nd), a 128km leg from pointe-à-Pitre to Saint-François (April 27th), a 95km ride from Sainte-Anne to Vieux-Habitants (April 28th), and culminating in a challenging 146.6km final stage from Lamentin to Crédit Agricole Petit-Peru on April 29th.
Despite a promising start in round 3, were Adélio Brooks finished 1st in the Junior category, a fall resulted in fortunately minor injuries. VCG’s young riders are now focused on a strong finish in Guadeloupe,aiming to build on recent successes and challenge for top positions in the overall standings.
