COLTON,CA – Country music fans are sending an outpouring of support to singer Billy “BDB” Burns after he publicly revealed a recent suicide attempt following a period of drug and alcohol abuse. Burns, known for his traditional country sound and devoted fanbase, shared details of the harrowing experience on social media, prompting a wave of prayers and well wishes from across the country music community.
The incident unfolded after Burns’ vehicle broke down, leading him to a liquor store and ultimately, a risky spiral of substance abuse. According to Burns’ account, he began injecting Jim Beam Whiskey and cocaine, leading to suicidal ideation. “I was shooting Jim Beam Whiskey and cocaine,” he said. “I’m out of my head man. I decided ‘why don’t you just kill yourself Billy?’ So, I stabbed myself.” He estimates inflicting approximately four or five stab wounds, losing “over a pint” of blood from one cut.
Burns was subsequently rushed to Arrowhead Regional Medical center in Colton, California, and placed in the telemetry unit – a lockdown heart unit on the fourth floor. He has as indicated he is “doing well” and has voluntarily entered treatment, marking a turning point in his battle with addiction. “This time is different,” Burns stated. “I have always had to go to treatment because it was ordered from someone else.This time I am going for myself. This will be my new chapter.”
