Berlin, MD – Worcester County residents will have access to a free programme designed to boost healthy eating habits and financial wellness, thanks to a new “Cooking Up Health” class series beginning November 10th. The Worcester County Health Department, in collaboration with the University of maryland Extension and the Worcester County Library, is offering the extensive course to equip participants with skills ranging from food budgeting to food preservation.
The six-week program addresses growing concerns about food insecurity and the rising costs of groceries, providing practical tools for individuals and families to maximize their resources and improve their diets. Participants will learn how to grow their own food, prepare nutritious meals, and safely preserve seasonal produce, reducing waste and promoting self-sufficiency. Classes will be held weekly from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Berlin Library,located at 13 Harrison Ave,concluding on December 15th.
“Cooking Up Health” will cover essential topics including healthy eating principles,smart food budgeting,effective financial management,and techniques for preserving food for later use.Weekly incentives will be provided to encourage the application of newly acquired knowlege.
