Seward, NE – Alison Roehrig has found a supportive community and a clear calling at Concordia University, Nebraska, after transferring to pursue a degree in Christian Education Leadership. Roehrig, a Lutheran student, is preparing to serve Christ’s church as a Director of Christian Education (DCE) following graduation.
roehrig actively participates in campus spiritual life, regularly attending chapel alongside friends, as well as Evening Prayer and Praise. She credits Attic Bible studies, led by Pastor Matthias and Rebekah Freed, with fostering both her faith and fellowship. “Through their guidance, I’ve gained a deeper and more thoughtful understanding of the Old Testament, seeing how it’s stories connect to God’s larger plan and to my own life,” she said. Her religion classes have further strengthened her Scriptural knowledge and encouraged exploration of her faith.
Family has been a cornerstone of Roehrig’s life, instilling values of love, service, and gratitude. She is thankful for the support of her parents, a brother and sister-in-law with three children, and a sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law who reside in Ohio.
Outside of academics, Roehrig enjoys painting, art projects, biking, kayaking with her father, and playing pickleball and disc golf. Her family’s fondness for electric bikes has created a tradition of e-bike rides for ice cream.
roehrig’s ambition is to serve as a family life director at an LCMS church. “I feel a strong calling to support and strengthen families in their walk with Christ,” she explained. “I’m passionate about developing meaningful programs that help parents and children grow together in faith and about equipping households with practical, Christ-centered resources for nurturing spiritual life at home. More than anything,I hope to create spaces within the church where families feel encouraged, connected and empowered to live out their faith daily.”
