Colorado Extreme Hockey to Move Operations from Rifle to Carbondale
CARBONDALE, COLORADO – November 11, 2023 – Colorado Extreme Hockey announced today it will relocate its primary rink operations from Rifle to the Stephen Domico Ice Arena in Carbondale, effective instantly. The move aims to consolidate the association’s growing programs and provide enhanced facilities for its players and families.
The shift impacts approximately 200 youth and adult hockey players currently utilizing the Rifle facility, and represents a meaningful change for the Roaring Fork Valley’s hockey community. Colorado Extreme Hockey, a prominent youth and adult hockey organization serving western Colorado, cited the Carbondale arena’s superior ice quality, expanded training spaces, and improved spectator amenities as key factors in the decision. The organization anticipates increased programme capacity and a more centralized location will foster greater participation and growth opportunities.
“This relocation allows us to offer a more comprehensive and consistent hockey experience for our members,” stated Colorado Extreme Hockey Director, dave Shaw. “The Stephen Domico Ice Arena provides the infrastructure we need to support our expanding programs and continue to build a thriving hockey community in the valley.”
colorado Extreme Hockey has operated out of the Rifle Ice Arena for several years, but faced increasing challenges with facility maintenance and limited capacity. The organization’s lease at the Rifle facility was not renewed. The move to Carbondale will see all Colorado Extreme Hockey practices and league games held at the Stephen Domico Ice Arena.
Founded in 2010, Colorado Extreme Hockey offers a range of programs including learn-to-skate, youth hockey leagues, adult hockey leagues, and skills development clinics. The organization serves players of all ages and skill levels,from beginners to competitive travel teams. The Stephen Domico Ice arena, managed by the town of Carbondale, underwent recent renovations to improve its facilities and enhance the overall user experience.
