Colombia’s Annual Inflation Reaches 5.30% in November
BOGOTA – colombia’s annual inflation rate registered 5.30% as of November,according to the latest data released by the national statistical agency. while representing a continued moderation from earlier peaks, the figure underscores persistent price pressures across key sectors of the economy.
The sustained increase in costs impacts Colombian households and businesses alike, especially those with lower incomes who allocate a larger proportion of their budget to essential goods. The central bank has been implementing a series of interest rate hikes in an effort to curb inflation, and these figures will be closely scrutinized as policymakers evaluate the effectiveness of those measures and determine future monetary policy.
Several categories experienced critically important price increases contributing to the overall inflation rate. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw a rise of 6.46%, while food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 5.74%. Transportation costs climbed 5.33%, and expenses related to accommodation, water, electricity, and gas rose by 5.29%.
The education and health sectors also showed notable increases, with inflation rates of 7.36% and 6.88% respectively. Importantly,the statistical entity reported that no item within the consumer price index registered a negative annual variation,indicating broad-based inflationary pressures throughout the economy.
