HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – December 4,2025 – The City of Huntsville today celebrated the grand opening of The Park at Hays Farm,a new nine-acre public space designed to serve as a recreational and community hub for south Huntsville.
The park, located at 801 Haysland Rd., represents a significant investment in the cityS growing infrastructure and quality of life. The addition of The Park at Hays Farm addresses the increasing need for accessible green spaces as Huntsville expands,offering residents and visitors a unique destination for recreation,relaxation,and community engagement. The park’s connection to the elgie’s Walk Greenway further enhances its accessibility and promotes active lifestyles.
Generously donated by the Hays family, the park features a gazebo, pavilion, restrooms, a waterwall, and a historic windmill reclaimed from the family farm. A state-of-the-art fitness court, a collaborative effort with Arts Huntsville and Blue Cross blue Shield of Alabama, showcases the work of a local artist and encourages physical activity.
“The Park at Hays Farm will be an invaluable addition to south Huntsville,” said mayor Tommy Battle. “as our city continues to grow, added park space is a valued part of our infrastructure.”
City Council Member Jennie Robinson added, “This pivotal project will provide residents with a unique place to live, work and play.We are grateful to the many essential individuals who have worked hard to help guide the growth of this park.”
Bostick Landscape Architects designed the park,with construction completed by Bailey-Harris Construction. Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett expressed his hope that the space will foster community connection and encourage outdoor activity.
“It is our hope that residents will use this space to spend time outdoors and connect with community,” Gossett said.
