INDIANAPOLIS – A frightening scene unfolded during Sunday’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts as Cardinals tight end Travis Vokolek sustained a neck injury on a kickoff return in the first quarter.
Vokolek was immobilized on the field after a collision with Colts linebacker Segun Olubi while attempting a block. Medical personnel quickly attended to the former nebraska player, and he was carefully placed on a backboard and transported off the field via golf cart. players from both teams knelt nearby as a precaution. Fortunately, initial reports from Fox Sports indicated Vokolek was alert and had movement in all extremities, offering a measure of relief amidst the concern.
As the cart carried Vokolek through the tunnel, he reportedly gave a thumbs-up to those watching.The Cardinals later announced he was officially ruled out for the remainder of the game due to the injury.
Adding to the Cardinals’ concerns, wide receiver Marvin harrison Jr. was also evaluated for a concussion late in the second quarter. Harrison’s head impacted the turf after completing a 21-yard reception with 6:52 remaining in the half.
