Washington Capitals Complete Homestand with 4-1 Victory Over Seattle Kraken
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Capitals concluded their homestand with a decisive 4-1 win against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night. The victory showcased strong offensive contributions and dominant defensive play, particularly through the first two periods.
Nic Dowd scored his first goal of the 2025-26 season,capitalizing on a play initiated by Brandon Duhaime and assisted by John Carlson. Duhaime’s zone entry and pass were highlighted by head coach Spencer Carbery, who recently emphasized Duhaime’s advancement in making those types of plays more consistently.
Ryan Leonard also found the back of the net twice, with one shot earlier in the game hitting the crossbar.
Through 40 minutes, the Capitals stifled the Kraken’s offense, allowing zero high-danger chances while generating 10 of their own and controlling over 80 percent of the expected goals.
The line of Hendrix Lapierre, Connor McMichael, and Tom Wilson demonstrated strong chemistry and dominance throughout their shifts, despite not registering any points.
A group of approximately 60 University of Kentucky students in attendance brought a lively atmosphere to the arena with European soccer-style chants and songs.
The Capitals will have a day off Wednesday before practicing at MedStar capitals Iceplex on Thursday. They will then travel to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets on Friday night.
